Americas United Bank (AUB) CEO Shares Knowledge, Inspiration with
Migrant Worker Youth
Gilbert Dalmau, President and CEO of Americas United
Bank (AUB), addressed a crowd of young adults this week as part of
the Migrant Scholars Leadership Institute SABEResPODER (Knowledge is
Power) Power Hour. One hundred high achieving high school students
from migrant farm-working communities were able to hear Dalmau discuss
his life as an immigrant who attained his dreams of success in the
business world, while also answering their questions about banking
and the opportunities available to them.
Special lectures led by influential community leaders such as AUB’s
President Gilbert Dalmau, California State Senator Gilbert Cedillo
and one of Time Magazine’s Most Influential Hispanics in America
Lionel Sosa are highlights of the SABEResPODER program.
Drawing on his vast knowledge of the world of finance, Dalmau enlightened
the youth about the many different forms of banking, such as investment,
mortgage, and commercial banking. He also spoke about the role of a
CEO and the keys to success as the students embark on their college
life and future careers.
Dalmau’s presentation was well-received as students entered into
an extended Q&A session with him regarding the banking industry.
Dalmau concluded his presentation with this final bit of advice: “As
you enter into your college careers, enjoy the experience, but remember
to remain focused on the task at hand – your education!”
